Australian Wildlife - Echidna digging into the ground. The Echidna is one of Australia's most unique animals; covered in spikes with a long nose and long clawed feet built for digging. Echidnas are monotremes (egg-laying mammals); one of only two in Australia, the other being the Platypus. Baby echidnas are called Puggles. This footage was taken in Gembrook, Victoria. This echidna roamed the 2-acre block we used to live on. I would frequently find it scratching about somewhere.
